At the conclusion of his visit to Moscow, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, met with the clergy, religious men and women, and celebrated Mass in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, attended by the Catholic bishops of the country. The mortal remains of Saint Monica, the mother of St Augustine, were discovered near the church of Sant’Aurea, close to the ruins of Rome’s ancient river port of Ostia, in the 15th century. Transferred to the capital by the Augustinian friars with the permission of Pope Martin V, they are now enshrined in the Roman basilica of St Augustine in Campo Marzio, in a special chapel. Read all
